Floppy Disk Applications

Having a floppy disk drive is nice, but if there are no available applications then it's just a bet on the future, or a way to make it more comfortable to use your Oric on a daily basis.

Realistically speaking, we are in the 21st century, and I doubt that many people use an Oric as their main computer, and most people use cross development to create new Oric applications, so really the only good reason for having such a device is to enjoy the existing software. And yes, it's not an urban legend, there is quite a significant number of existing software on the Oric which either requires a floppy disk drive or vastly benefit from using it.

Games

Most of the games released in the early eighties were released on tapes, but starting in the nineties most developers switched to the floppy disk format, allowing more complex games, advanced graphics, richer sound effects and music, ease of saving your gaming sessions and scores, etc...
